Product Designer

Role Guide

AddIn365 Product Designers are responsible for the software UX and design aesthetics for products AddIn365 creates. These products are used by some of the world’s best-known brands (https://www.addin365.com/clients/)

As part of the production team, you’ll be building and maintaining UX artefacts across our entire product range. This will involve working with Microsoft design systems for Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Azure, and Web ecosystems and the internal AddIn365 product design system. Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and visually appealing features that address our customers' needs. You will use your creativity and eye for design to develop great experiences.

Each of the AddIn365 products is designed in house, using Figma and other design tools. These Figma files are then utilised to allow the engineering team to break down technical design and engineering tasks. These designs are also used by AI Agents as part of the implementation. The Product Designer will have contributed the Figma and supporting documentation to assist the engineers with software construction and task estimations as part of AI-native software development lifecycle.

The Product Designer role is aimed at candidates who can demonstrate:

Product Design

  • 2–3 years commercial product design experience

  • Experience owning design outcomes rather than only producing UI designs

  • Experience across web applications and modern SaaS products

  • Strong understanding of information architecture, interaction design and usability principles

  • Ability to translate business requirements into intuitive user experiences

Design Systems

  • Experience building, maintaining and scaling design systems

  • Experience defining reusable components and patterns

  • Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design

  • Experience designing responsive experiences across devices

Engineering Collaboration

  • Experience working closely with engineering team in AI-native software development lifecycle

  • Experience participating in agile software delivery

  • Comfortable discussing design / implementation constraints and trade-offs

  • Experience creating implementation-ready specifications and designs for engineering team

AI-Native Development Environment

Candidates must have recent practical exposure to:

  • Figma Dev Mode

  • Figma MCP

  • Figma Make

  • Figma Code Connect

  • AI-assisted design workflows

  • Design-to-code workflows to work efficiently with engineering team

  • Creating designs optimised for AI-assisted implementation

  • Modern AI tooling used across software product development

  • Understanding of how design artefacts are consumed by AI-assisted engineering environments

UX technical experience and skills

At AddIn365, we use a wide range of technologies and development extensibility with Microsoft 365. Our developers produce front end user interface experiences as well as back-end server-based logic.

  • HTML – understanding how HTML is used to create structured, semantic, and accessible markup against experience design requirements

  • CSS – understanding how to CSS is applied to HTML markup to create beautiful, responsive, and accessible experiences

  • Actively advocates for users as part of the design process.

  • Reframe work from a user-focused point of view ensuring every conversation involves user needs.

Define

  • Challenge all assumptions and validate problems with research and data.

  • Consider how design work impacts both users and product goals.

  • Able to write detailed documentation of user journeys.

Ideate

  • Conduct solution validation and incorporate insights into design decisions to fulfil user and product needs.

Prototype

  • Constantly include user feedback during prototyping process.

  • Understand and adhere to Microsoft’s design principles with a decreasing need for guidance.

  • Thorough knowledge of different prototyping tools including using Figma Make and other AI product design tools and workflows

  • Identify potential problem and opportunities that were not apparent in the initial design phase.

Design work

  • Thorough knowledge of UI principles - colour theory, layout, hierarchy, typography and motion and application based on a strong rationale.

  • Actively contribute to the Design Systems by keeping design components available and up to date ensuring that reusable components fit visually and functionally together.

  • Incorporate accessibility design principles into processes and flows

  • Deliver high-quality work requiring only minor adjustments

  • Adopt incremental design and iterative refinement approach

  • Deliver designs for AI-first engineering workflows

Test

  • Set out testing methodologies by :

    • defining objectives

    • choosing the right testing protocols

    • recruiting the testers to validate designs

    • acting on the test insights

  • Translate insights gained from testing into tangible design improvements.

Planning and execution

  • Plan and scope work ahead of developer sprint

  • Manages own work effectively and proactively suggesting solutions for competing demands.

  • Attempts to solve problems under own initiative.
